مدينة تريم
مدينة تريم من عواصم الاحقاف وسميت باسم ملكها تريم بن حضرموت بن سبأ الأصغر ، وتقع في الجهة الشمالية الشرقية من سيئون ، ويرجع تاريخها إلى القرن الرابع الميلادي .
أما في العصر الإسلامي فقد أصبحت لها مكانة خاصة ، حيث كانت عاصمة وادي حضرموت عندما أتخذها عامل الخلفاء الراشدين لبيد بن زياد الاباضي عاصمة للدعوة .
إن أول علامة بارزة تلفت انتباه الزائر للمدينة هي منارة جامع (المحضار) الشاهقة ، والتي يصل إرتفاعها إلى (175) قدما ، وتعد احد معالم مدينة تريم التاريخية ذات الفن المعماري الرائع إلى جانب المساجد الكثيرة التي تتزاحم في تريم .
وإلى جانب المساجد فإن المدينة تشتهر أيضا بمكتباتها الكثيرة المنتشرة في أرجاء المدينة ، واهم هذه المكتبات مكتبة (الأحقاف) التي يصل عدد مخطوطاتها إلى خمسة ألاف مخطوط في شتى المعارف ، كما تمتاز تريم بتععدد القصور ذات الطراز الفريد وهي قصور ذات مهابة خاصة ، ومن تلك القصور قصر (القبة) وقصر (تريم) ، وتحيط بها حدائق غناء واسعة، مكا تشتهر تريم بتعدد أربطتها العلمية والدينية والتي بلغت شهرتها الآفاق لذا فأن طلبة العلم يقصدونها من مختلف أنحاء العالم الإسلامي واشهر تلك الأربطة (دار المصطفى) . وتريم مثلها مثل بقية مدن حضرموت تشتهر بمشغولاتها اليدوية كما تشتهر بإعداد الشاي الحضرمي الذي يعد على البخار وكذلك الأكلات الحضرمية التي تعد بطرق متعددة .
Tarim city
Named after its king tarim bin hadhramaut bin saba ,the junior , this is one of the al ahqafs areas that dates back to the 4th century A.D. it is located at the northeast side of saion . however , the city acquired a special status during the Islamic era, as it became the capital of the hadhramaut valley when the ruler of the zaid al ebadi , made it as the center for his call.
The first outstanding landmark that attracte the attention of a visitor is the 175 feet minaret of al mehder mosque. This minaret, is one of the architectural landmarks in tarim .
In addition to its numerous mosque, the city is populated with countless libraies that are to be found in every nook and corner. The most important of these libraries is the al ahqaf library the contain 5000 manuscripts covering almost all field of knowledge . tarim city is characterized by its many unique palaces , such as al qoba palace and tarim palace . the city is also known fot its many gardens and parks as well as its famous scientific and religious associations whish made it a popular destination for students from all over the Islamic world; the most renowned among these associations is 'dar mustafa' like any other city in hadhramaut , tarim is prepared hadhrami tea, and other various hadhrami meals.
