مدينة المحويت
تقع في الشمال الغربي من العاصمة صنعاء وتبعد عنها حوالي (111 كم)، ويبلغ ارتفاعها (2100م) عن سطح البحر، ولذلك يسودها مناخ معتدل طوال العام والمدينة بمثابة حصن شيد فوق ربة مرتفعة، ويتم الصعود إليها من الناحية الشرقية عبر طريق مرصوف بالأحجار يؤدي إلى المدخل الرئيس في الناحية الغربية، وبصورة عامة فإن حصن المصنعة يمثل المكونات المعمارية التي كانت تتضمنها معظم الحصون الدفاعية في المنطقة، فضلاً عن كونه حالياً المركز الإداري للمحافظة.
لقد كان لتضاريس المحويت أثر كبير في تكويناتها الطبيعية البديعة، ومظهرها الطبوغرافي الفريد. إذ تكونت بين تلك الجبال والوديان ممرات مائية عميقة شديدة الانحدار شكلتها مياه السيول المتدفقة من الجبال المرتفعة التي تكونت جراء انفصال الجزيرة العربية عن قارة أفريقيا في ما بين (15 – 45 مليون سنة) تقريباً، كما تشكلت رسوبيات طمي ملائمة لإقامة الحقول والمدرجات الزراعية التي تزرع بعض محاصيل الحبوب المعتمدة على مياه الأمطار الموسمية والغيول المتدفقة.
تحتوي المدينة على العديد من الأسواق الشعبية، كما تنتشر فيها صناعة الحلي الفضية، والمشغولات اليدوية المتنوعة، ويحيط بها العديد من المواقع السياحية الرائعة، والحصون التاريخية المشهورة، منها منطقة الريادي التي تعد مزاراً لكل من يقوم بزيارة المنطقة، كما أنها واحدة من أجمل المنتزهات الطبيعية في اليمن.
Mahweet city
Located 111 km away to the northwest of sana'a. mahweet city rises 2100 meters above sea level and so enjoys a year-long temperate weather. This city looks like a fort built on a high hill, and is accessed from the eastern side though a stone-paved road that leads to the main entrance on its west. The al masna'a fort is a good representative of the architectural elements that used to be found in most of the defensive forts in the region, in addition to its current position as the administrative center of the governorate.
Mahweet city has been enormously influenced by its extraordinary natural structures and unique topographic appearance. The separation of Arabia from Africa around 15 to 45 million years ago formed a high-rise mountain range. This made the region constantly prone to torrential downpours. These heavy rains created the unique sloping waterways within the mountains and valleys that are characteristic of the region. In addition, the mud sediments that were formed made the suitable for fields, agriculture and rain-dependent harvests.
The city is full of popular souks, and well-known for its skill in making of silver jewelry and varied handicrafts. Being one of the most beautiful parks in yemen, mahweet city is surrounded by a number of wonderful tourist sites and famous historical forts, such as the al riadi region.
